what happened with orion_dobledosis?
Has Orion not shown up for awhile or something? I thought he had a thriving patreon following to deal with, he was posting a lot of videos here and on utube, for a long time. He does nice material shader work, (which i think is really what makes or breaks a mmd vid) but his stuff gets a bit repetative. Still good stuff tho.
As far as I know he is still around.
For some reason I cannot open his page . It says I don't have permission . I can search his videos , though . The same thing happened to Vectorcell's page not to long ago too ...
Orion_dobledosis has been banned.
They were warned of our website's rules of conduct which states that if you are posting a video that has links to alternate resolutions available to download through a paid member-only access, they must be of 720p or higher resolution on Iwara. Many, if not all, of their more recent videos were 480p and linked directly to their patreon which had up of 2k/4k available. Iwara was created as an alternative to low quality, subscription based websites. Iwara is not an advertisement space. It never has and never will be. Iwara does not condone intentionally hindering visual quality to incentivize people towards a paid, thrid party membership. They also posted several versions of their videos with very slight differences which is frowned upon.
When they were informed and warned of this by another moderator, instead of rectifying the issue or vowing to not continue to break the rules of conduct - they insulted the moderator and were increasingly very nasty to them; this resulted in a swift ban.
Breaking the rules is one thing. Ignoring the rules once you've been made aware of them is another. Flat out being rude to a moderator trying to resolve such issues is not acceptable. Moderators do not make the rules, we enforce them.
Damn , didn't know this . However , there are a bunch of uploaders that do this , uploading a low-res video & then tells you to go to their site for the higher -res videos . Is he perma-banned ?
@SirBiscuit as far as I can understand what Amani77 said they don't condone intentionally hindering visual quality to incentivize people towards a paid, they are just asking for a minimum HQ content like 720p at least. If Orion wasn't doing that and he was posting very low-resolution videos, well... if you can render at 4k you can do a 720/1080p version for iwara. That's how I'm understanding this.
Orion_dobledosis has patched things over and is now unbanned.
